Apparently, someone complained Dr Phillip N Arber. We need some concrete evidences and examples. Otherwise, it does not convince us.

I am glad that I am not the only one that deems Dr Phillip Arber to be unprofessional and incompetent.

I could not speak too highly of Dr. Philip Arber. For over 25 years now, he has taken wonderful care of our whole family of four (4) member's physical & attitudal health. We have always found him to be kind, thoughtful, knowleable, full of good advice & caring attention to our every medical need, expressed with a lovely down-to-earth sense of boyish good humour. I really could not image how anyone who has taken the time to get to closely know Dr. Arber, could in all seriousness make even one derogitory comment against him, his professional attitude, knowledge or timely caring council to his many adoring, faithful patients, on any medical situation . I submit this advice in all sincere seriousness.

We brought our 7 month old baby to be the practice as he was coughing, running a mild temperature and not looking very well. Doctor Arber, listened to his chest and put his cheek to his cheek this was the sum total of his examination. He then told us he most probably had a viral infection and would get better (interspersed with a phone call from his friend and a regaling story of how he had know this fellow for 40 years and had depositied car oil on his driveway the day before...). He then told us that childrena are like rice crispies if they still have snap, crackel and pop they are fine - and in his estimation our son had snap crackel and pop. He caviated this with, "I am not saying he won't have pneumonia in two days time, but in my opinion he will be fine. If he was my grandchild I would be saying the same thing". He then said we were first time parents and obviously a bit paranoid, before seeing us out to pay our bill. He did not look in our sons ears, check his throut, feel his glands or any of the other standard things a doctor would normally dowhen checking a child who can't talk for themselves. Needless to say, two days later we were back at the doctor (a different practice and a ver good doctor) where it was discovered our son had what looked like a middle ear infection, swollen glands, cough and sore throut. He was prescribed with a course of amoxil.

Make up your own mind but our view is we will not be returning to Dr Arber ever again and will most likely change practices. I have written a letter to the practice manager and await a response.

I attended Dr Arber several years ago and on both occasions left the surgery wondering if my problem had actually been addressed appropriately, if at all. I'm sure he is a very nice man, I'm sure he is knowledgable and probably has his patients' wellbeing at heart, but I couldn't get past feeling on both occasions that his approach to my - at the time - distressing and painful illnesses was flippant, unprofessional and just downright uncaring. Perhaps his personality and manner is the problem, I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, I won't be seen in his waiting room again.
