Studio Jagex, a game maker Jagex may be known for its massive Runescape franchise, however, a lot of people may not know that the studio has been expanding its services into the realm of publishing and even tabletop gaming.
Jagex recently announced that it has made a deal with indie game developer Outlier Games to publish the debut game by the studio, the spaceship management roguelike This Means Warp. The game will be released on PC via Steam Early Access on March 17.
Created with replayability and multiplayer in mind, This Means Warp encourages players to work together and think strategically during intense, real-time space battles, and adopt shrewd strategies as they guide their ship through a hostile, procedurally generated universe.
The game draws inspiration from roguelikes including FTL along with party games such as Overcooked, It Means Warp sees players control the crew on a ship, manning different mechanisms, focusing on weapons, making repairs, and finally mapping out a path through the dark and dangerous space.
To find out more about Jagex's publishing This Means Warp, we spoke to Outlier Games' founders Paul Froggatt and Matt Rathbun and Lead Product Management for Jagex Robert Fox-Galassi to get their thoughts on the collaboration.
